Collaborative Teaching in a team
Overview
Collaborative teaching is becoming increasingly common in the tertiary sector, as well as in primary and secondary education.
There are a number of drivers for this which include the development of larger, innovative learning spaces which focus on student-centred learning and the increasing usage of active learning strategies. Having more than one educator in the room facilitates the use of a range of teaching strategies, but the key to optimising the learners' experiences is the purposeful use of a collaborative learning model, and an understanding of that model by all the members of the team.
Without such an understanding, the experience for both learners and educators can be unsettling.
Participants will find the module most beneficial when undertaking it with colleagues with whom they teach in order to build collaboration and a sense of purpose. Collaboration, and a shared vision, is integral to success.
