Nature of professional development programs
Participants in professional development programs offered at Monash do not receive any formal Monash University award or accreditation upon completion. Some courses may offer the option of obtaining a micro-credential (see the micro-credential section below).

Micro-credential
Receiving academic credit
Some courses may offer the option to obtain a credit towards a Monash University award course (such as a degree or graduate certificate), where the micro-credential (assessed) version of the professional development program is selected.
Successful completion of a micro-credential does not guarantee admission into an award course. Prospective students must meet the eligibility and admission requirements for the award course. A micro-credential can only be used as credit towards a single degree on one occasion.
If a student has already obtained the maximum credit available to an award course through other means, they will not be granted extra credit as a result of completing this short course.
Expected engagement
Minimum engagement of 80% across the program content, discussion forums, synchronous and asynchronous sessions is required to complete the micro-credential (assessed) version of the program.
Transferring from the micro-credential to the short course version
Written applications (via email to cpd.moe@monash.edu) to withdraw from the micro-credential (assessed) version of a program and transfer to the short course (non-assessed) version will be accepted up to six business days prior to course commencement.
Cost of assessment is non-refundable if withdrawal occurs:
- 5 business days or less prior to course commencement (for all programs), or
- once the course has commenced.
Transferring from the short course to the micro-credential version
Written applications (via email to cpd.moe@monash.edu) to withdraw from the short course (non-assessed) version of a program and transfer to the micro-credential (assessed) version will be accepted up until the due date for the first program assessment. Participants will be required to pay the difference in fees between the two course versions.
Participants who do not register in or transfer to the micro-credential version by the date specified will be required to repeat the program if they later choose to take the micro-credential version.
