Resources for families
Resources for families
Families play a crucial role in helping children to understand and manage their emotions. Families can support children by talking to them about the benefits of movement for their emotional wellbeing, and providing regular movement activities at home.
Your child’s teacher may be using the Mood Breaker resources in the classroom. You can use these resources at home and reinforce key messages to provide consistency and support your child’s wellbeing across home and school.

Explore our series of nine storybooks to help children learn about their emotions and understand that movement can be used as a strategy to regulate their emotions. Each book has a corresponding version, which allows readers to ‘add their own images’ to create a personalised version of the story.
Watch our collection of nine brief animation videos that build from the storybook series to introduce children to more scientific content about movement and its role in regulating emotions. Check them out below!
Our group and individual activity cards were designed for classrooms, but can also be used at home. Our group activity cards provide ideas for games you can play at home as a family. Our individual activity cards provide ideas that children can do independently.
Alternatively, you might already have movement activities that your child loves to do! The choice is yours. Download and have fun with our activity cards below!
Group activity cards
These cards were designed for teachers to deliver in the classroom including dancing, yoga and well-known children’s games. Each card comes with variations to help adapt the activity to best support your child.
Individual activity cards
These cards provide a variety of movement options for children to use when they want to take a movement break on their own. They do not require other children or adults to participate alongside them, or equipment or ‘rules’, which allows children to choose a movement and be active all by themselves.
