Welcome to the Systems Neuroscience of Cognition and Neurodevelopment Laboratory.

The Bellgrove Lab studies how the brain supports core cognitive processes, including attention, decision-making, and cognitive control, and how these processes differ developmentally in neurodivergent children. Our overarching goal is to identify mechanistic pathways that inform diagnosis and targeted treatments for neurodevelopmental and mental health conditions.

Our researchers work across discovery programmes using human and animal models, as well as translational programmes with children, youth and adults with neurodevelopmental conditions. Our work contributes to clinical frameworks, including national ADHD guidelines, and aims to inform evidence-based approaches to assessment and treatment.

The Lab is led by Professor Mark Bellgrove.

We are based at the Turner Institute for Brain and Mental Health, School of Psychological Sciences, and a member of the Neurodevelopment and Brain Mapping and Modelling Programmes. We also collaborate with the Monash Biomedical Discovery Institute and Monash Neuroscience, as well as Monash Health and the Monash Children’s Hospital.
