This prestigious top-up scholarship is available to help support graduate research students studying in a cardiovascular disease related field with living costs. The Ian Ferring PhD Scholarship does not automatically entitle you to a Monash University Graduate Scholarship. More details on Monash Graduate Scholarships can be found here.

This scholarship, administered by the Monash Victorian Heart Institute, is generously made possible by Monash alumni and philanthropist, Mr Ian Ferring. Mr Ferring’s personal connection to heart disease inspired his support of medical research at the institute and the Victorian Heart Hospital on Clayton campus, an enduring legacy enabling impact in cardiac education and innovation for future generations.

Am I eligible?

You must be one of the following:

  • A domestic or international student

You must meet the following criteria:

  • be a current Monash postgraduate student enrolled in your first year of your PhD;
  • be a graduate researcher in a cardiovascular disease related field;
  • be a registered member of the Monash Victorian Heart Institute

Benefits

Scholarship provides a living allowance top up (stipend) of $12,500 per annum for up to 3.5 years.

Conditions

The standard RTP Scholarships terms and conditions apply as outlined in the RTP Scholarship Procedures. Scholarship recipients will be required to provide annual updates on their academic journey to the Donor.

Selection criteria

Monash scholarships are competitive and are awarded based on academic record, any research outputs and prior research experience.
