TIM TAM study

TIMTAM Study: Breast Arterial Calcification Guided Cardiovascular Screening and Risk Management - Targeted Identification of Myocardial risk through Tomographic Assessment with Mammography

Did you know that Mammograms can also diagnose Heart Disease?

One Scan: Two Diseases.

Heart disease and breast cancer are major causes of illness and death among Australian women, but only breast cancer is routinely screened for. Many women already undergo regular mammograms, creating an opportunity to improve heart disease detection without additional tests.

The TIMTAM Study investigates whether mammograms can also identify women at risk of heart disease. Calcium build-up in breast arteries, visible on mammograms, is similar to the calcification that contributes to heart disease and heart attacks.

By better understanding this link, the study aims to determine whether routine breast screening could provide a simple and effective way to assess heart disease risk in women.
