Local Information

The conference will be held in the H Building on Monash University Caulfield Campus. There is a bus that runs between the Monash Caulfield Campus and the main campus in Clayton. The Caulfield Campus is conveniently located near shops, restaurants and other amenities and a five-minute walk from Caulfield Railway Station, leading to downtown Melbourne.


Visa information:

All visitors to Australia who do not hold an Australian or New Zealand passport require either an ETA or a visa for attending the conference. Please check the link here if you are unsure if you qualify for an ETA. Participants who need a letter to support their visa application should email jkconference31@gmail.com.

Airport transportation:

Melbourne International Airport (known locally as Tullamarine Airport) is a 45-minute cab ride from the conference site at Caulfield Campus, or slightly less to the CBD (Central Business District, downtown).

A taxi ride from Tullamarine Airport to the CBD (Central Business District, downtown) is approximately $88 AUD, with Ubers also available. The SkyBus runs from the airport to Southern Cross Station in the CBD (one way: $22 AUD, return: $36 AUD).

Transportation to the venue:

Many attendees at past events have chosen to find accommodation in the CBD and commute to the Caulfield campus. From the CBD, Caulfield campus is accessible via train (23 minutes, $5 AUD), tram (42 minutes, $5 AUD), and taxi/Uber (12 minutes, $26-$31 AUD).

The Sebel Melbourne Malvern is a ten-minute walk from the conference location on Caulfield Campus. Single/double rooms in late October are generally $250 AUD per night. Slightly further toward the CBD (downtown) is Toorak Manor, a twenty-minute train ride away, where rooms are currently $150 AUD per night. For more luxurious accommodations, the Hotel Chadstone is a nine-minute drive east of the conference venue, located next to the famous Chadstone Shopping Centre, the largest shopping mall in the southern hemisphere. Rooms are available in late October for roughly $400 AUD per night.

The conference dinner will be held on the evening of  Friday  1st November  at Theio Theo Greek taverna. The location is a short walk from the conference venue.
