The wider project
This textbook emerged from a wider research project “Bridging the theory-practice gap in the teaching of sign languages” which was funded by the Australian Research Council and Melbourne Polytechnic through the Linkage Project scheme. Find out more about the project.
We gratefully acknowledge the contribution made by our co-researchers Adam Schembri, Cathy Clark, Ramas McRae, Cathy Sell, Joe Sabolcec and Meredith Bartlett: their underlying research is the foundation on which this book rests.
We are also indebted to the Auslan teachers of Melbourne Polytechnic, who have generously given of their time throughout the research and development process and have provided much helpful feedback on ideas that have shaped the drafting of this book.
