Adelaide and Flinders University students engaged in a five-week comedy workshop delivered by award-winning writer and theatre maker Caleb Lewis (pictured above), in partnership with the History Trust of South Australia’s Centre of Democracy. The workshops explored the building blocks of stand-up comedy and our researchers examined the ways that comedy might enhance young people’s wellbeing and facilitate their participation in civic discourse. Stand-up is a genre where young people can have their say about the world, and students shared their performances in Adelaide’s Howling Owl as part of the History Festival in May 2026.
