ARENA Insights Webinar – Grid-forming inverters
Webinar details
Date: Tuesday, 9 August 2022
Time: 10.30 am – 12.30 pm (AEST)
Platform: Zoom – Register here
ARENA has invested nearly $40 million in battery storage projects with advanced inverter capabilities. These projects have been effective in demonstrating the capabilities of advanced inverters and understanding the connection and operation of grid-forming capabilities and synthetic inertia in the NEM.
Join us at an ARENA Insights webinar, where we will share insights from our funded projects, and host a panel discussion with representatives from AEMO, Tesla, Edify, TransGrid and Monash University.
Participants will also have an opportunity to ask questions.
Panellists include
Chris Mock, AEMO
Chris is a principal engineer in AEMO's Future Energy Systems team. He led the development of their recent white paper on advanced inverters, and is currently working on AEMO’s Engineering Framework that seeks to facilitate an orderly transition to a secure and operable future NEM.
Elyse Green, Tesla
Elyse is a Tesla Project Engineer working on design and commissioning of utility scale battery projects. She ran commissioning tests for the implementation of Virtual Machine Mode at Hornsdale Power Reserve Expansion and is planning the deployment of the feature at other battery sites.
Dr Behrooz Bahrani, Monash University
Behrooz is a Senior Lecturer at Monash University and Director of the Grid Innovation Hub. His research interests include control of power electronic converters, their applications in power systems, and grid integration of renewable energy resources.
Sam Hill, Edify
Sam is the head of technology and asset management for Edify Energy. Sam has recently led the development of the Darlington Point and Riverina Energy Storage Systems.
Nigel Buchanan, TransGrid
Nigel is the General Manager of Infrastructure and Energy Services at Lumea, and is responsible for organisational strategy, leading teams responsible for the investment and development of a variety of renewable energy assets.
Participants will also have an opportunity to ask questions.
