Dropbox

Dropbox is a cloud storage service that allows users to store and share files online. It enables users to upload files to remote servers and access them from any device with an internet connection. Users can synchronise files across multiple devices and share files or folders with others.

This software is available to staff and students, who can provide authorisation, for use on Monash and personal devices.

Install Dropbox

  1. Submit a Service Desk request for a Dropbox licence.
  2. Based on who is using the software, include the following:
    • Monash email address
    • organisational unit
    • cost centre and fund to cover cost
    • name of the staff member providing financial authorisation.

  • File Synchronisation: Dropbox synchronises files across multiple devices linked to the same account, ensuring that users have access to the latest version of their files from any device.

  • File Recovery and Version History: Dropbox keeps a history of file versions, allowing users to recover previous versions of files and track changes made over time.
  • Offline Access: Users can access their files offline by marking files or folders for offline access.
  • Collaboration Tools: Dropbox offers collaboration features such as commenting, annotations, and real-time collaboration on files, making it easy for teams to work together on projects.
  • File Recovery and Backup: Dropbox offers file recovery and backup features, allowing users to recover deleted files and restore previous versions of files within a specified timeframe.
