Cyber security

At Monash University, being cyber aware is everyone's responsibility. Here you can learn more about what you can do to be cyber aware at work and at home.

For more, see cyber security management practices and security controls at Monash and cyber security resources for staff.

Suspected ransomware on your computer

If you’re at a Monash University location:

  1. Contact the Service Desk immediately
  2. Disconnect your machine from the network to prevent spreading the infection to shared network drives.
  • Windows: click the wi-fi symbol in the Taskbar and select Flight Mode to turn off wi-fi and Bluetooth
  • macOS: click the wi-fi symbol in the Menu Bar and click Turn Wi-Fi off.

If you’re off-site on a personal device, it's recommended to rebuild your entire computer and restore data from your personal backups.
