Teaching Excellence Program

Overview

The aim of the program is to orient you to the key themes that shape learning and teaching at Monash University.

The program concentrates on important and useful elements of educational practice - across teaching, learning, assessment and feedback and asks you to consider these in relation to your own educational work.

Through this program, you will develop a statement that describes your teaching approach and consider its alignment with the way in which you design active and student-centred learning and assessment.

You will reflect on teaching practice and set the foundation for your ongoing professional learning about teaching.

Eligibility

The Teaching Excellence Program (TEP) is mandatory for academic staff who:

  • Are required to complete the program as a condition of their probation and/or employment with Monash University; and
  • Have assigned teaching responsibilities.

Program structure

TEP is designed to be a flexible, self-paced program with no fixed cohorts, while integrating you into the Monash educator community through online conversations and support sessions. The program is designed to fit around your schedule. You can start at any time and progress at your own pace, with most participants completing the program within 12 months.

To complete the program, participants are required to:

  • Complete the Teaching at Monash self-paced induction module
  • Complete a series of practice-based portfolio tasks aligned to your teaching role
  • Attend a small number of synchronous teaching conversations and drop-in support sessions
  • Complete a peer review of teaching
  • Submit either a TEP reflection or for those pursuing Advance HE Fellowship, a Whole of Practice narrative.
