Projects
Projects
Our projects are guided by a simple, but focused strategy: demystify climate change by presenting localised climate information to as many people as possible, as often as possible. Their impact-focus ensures they are grounded in practical application, remaining focused on assisting Australians to better understand climate change, how it is going to impact them, and what solutions are available.

Climate Communicators
The MCCCRH's flagship program, Climate Communicators, produces simple, long-term climate graphics for Australian weather presenters.

Changing Climates
In partnership with NewsCorp Australia, we deliver localised climate graphics and climate journalism to local publications in Brisbane and regional Australia.

Climate Classrooms
In partnership with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes, Climate Classrooms provides free, easily accessible lesson plans on climate science.

Climatepulse
In partnership with Weatherzone, Climatepulse develops and delivers accessible climate explainer videos for broadcast on Weatherzone's app, website and socials.

Climate Reporting in Australia
Through extensive coding of over 10,000 newspaper articles covering extreme weather events and Australian climate policy, we present the trends, frames and treatment of climate change in Australian newspapers.

Climate Change Poetry
Speaking to different audiences requires a range of texts and with this project we explore the power of poetry to communicate climate change in Australia.

Sonifying Climate Change in Australia
Can sound help us better understand climate change? Working in collaboration with Penn State University, our sonification project plots data from extreme weather events such as cyclones, and turns it into unique soundtracks, effectively allowing us to hear these events in an entirely new way.

Climate Change Interpretive Communities
In collaboration with Australian & international partners, this project will conduct ‘audience segmentation studies’ to understand the different ways Australians perceive climate change.

Cli-Fi: Climate Fiction & Climate Change
Climate fictions are an important way of communicating climate science to non-specialist audiences and are currently being explored within the School of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics.
