Ancora Imparo Monash Prato Dialogues

Ancora Imparo Monash Prato Dialogues is a series of public talks and discussions designed as a space for dialogue between the university and the local community.

Through this series we invite experts, artists, professionals, and citizens to reflect together on issues of culture and current affairs.

The title of the series recalls Monash University’s motto, Ancora Imparo (‘I am still learning’), conveying the idea that lifelong learning, curiosity, and personal growth are a continuous journey that never ends.

Events are free and open to the public.

Past events have included an evening with Davide Serino, co-screenwriter of the TV series ‘M - Son of the Century’ based on the novel of the same name by Antonio Scurati. Serino offered unique insights into the creative process and the challenges of television storytelling.

Upcoming events:

As part of Monash Prato’s 25th Anniversary celebrations, our next event will be Inclusive Urban Spaces. Bringing together experts in urban design, architecture and research, the panel discussion will explore how cities can become more equitable, accessible and welcoming for all, with perspectives drawn from Italy, Europe and Australia.

What we’ll explore:

• Gender-sensitive design: rethinking public spaces to improve safety, mobility, and everyday equity
• Global and local insights: comparing real-world initiatives across Italy, the European Union, and Australia
• Accessibility and belonging: practical steps toward civic participation and inclusive urban living

• Louise Wright, Practice Professor in Architecture, Monash Art, Design and Architecture
• Giorgia Pisano, Program Coordinator of Industrial Design, Monash Art, Design and Architecture
• Daniela Poli, Director of Gendered Cities MA Program, PIN-University of Florence

The panel discussion will be moderated by Samuele Grassi, Adjunct Lecturer in European Studies and Italian at the Monash University Faculty of Arts.
