The scholarship
The Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarship supports outstanding, thoughtful and imaginative Australians to pursue postgraduate study at some of the world’s best overseas universities.
The scholarship is designed for future leaders, innovators and changemakers who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, strength of character, leadership and service, and a commitment to making a meaningful contribution to Australia and beyond.
Available scholarships
Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarships support full-time postgraduate coursework and/or research at leading overseas universities.
Scholarships are offered for one or two years and, in select cases, three years, depending on the postgraduate program. Applicants must have secured a place in their chosen graduate program before applying.
The scholarship is open to Australian citizens and permanent residents undertaking eligible postgraduate study outside Australia.
Benefits
The Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarship provides funding of up to AUD $100,000 per year towards tuition, living and travel expenses.
In addition to financial support, Ramsay Scholars become part of a community of emerging Australian leaders and have access to leadership development, networking and engagement opportunities in Australia and overseas.

The Ramsay Centre for Western Civilisation was established in 2017 through an endowment from the late Paul Ramsay AO, a leading Australian businessman and philanthropist and founder of Ramsay Health Care. Known for his commitment to giving back to Australia, Ramsay envisioned supporting young Australians to deepen their understanding of the ideas, traditions and achievements that have shaped Western civilisation.
The Centre advances education through university partnerships, scholarships and educational programs. Since 2021, its Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarships have supported outstanding Australians to pursue postgraduate study at leading overseas universities, with a focus on developing future leaders, innovators and changemakers who can make a meaningful contribution to Australia and beyond.
Applications
How to apply
- Review the eligibility requirements and application information on the Ramsay Postgraduate Scholarships website.
- Complete and submit your application through the Ramsay Centre’s online application portal.
Applicants must have secured a place in their proposed postgraduate program before applying for the scholarship.
Commencement date
If selected, you’ll need to commence your approved postgraduate program within 12 months of being awarded the scholarship.
The scholarship supports full-time postgraduate study at an eligible overseas university.
