Douglas Webber, Visiting Domestic Research Fellow 2010

I spent the period from 7 to 18 March as a domestic research fellow at the centre.

During this period I gave the following seminars:

  • On European and Asian regionalism in an Honours and postgraduate course given by Professor Philomena Murray in the Political Science Department at the University of Melbourne on 14 March;
  • On Franco-German relations and the history and current crisis of the European Union, in the form of a video-podcast interview by Professor Stefan Auer, at the Political Science and History Department of Latrobe University on 16 March; and
  • ‘How likely is it that the European Union will disintegrate?’ at MEEUC on 18 March.

In addition, I continued to conduct research on the topic of my MEEUC seminar with a view to writing a paper that I intend to submit to a journal later this year.

During my stay at the centre, I also met and talked with a number of postgraduate students, in particular with Peter O’Shea, on whose PhD committee I am an external member.
