Monash University Peer Mentoring Program

We want you to have the best start to university life!

From the moment first-year undergraduate students arrive on campus, they'll have the opportunity to connect with peer mentors who will guide and support them through their first semester at Monash.

Mentees will kick off university in a fun and supportive environment, building connections with their mentors, peers and faculties.

Mentors are students in their second year or above. They guide new students through their first year, sharing their knowledge and insights into the Monash experience. Mentors can attend professional development events, network with other student mentors and elevate their employability skills.

Peer mentoring is run in small groups. One-on-one mentoring is also available to eligible students.

How does Peer Mentoring work?

As a new undergraduate student, you'll be invited to connect with other first-year students from your faculty to receive mentoring support from a peer mentor in your first semester. One-on-one mentoring is available for eligible students registered with Disability Support Services.

Your mentor will be an experienced student from your faculty who can share knowledge, tips and answer your questions about university life. They can show you how to use Monash platforms and where to find programs, resources and services at Monash, so you can have an enjoyable and successful first semester.

By joining the Peer Mentoring program, you’ll have the opportunity to attend fun Peer Mentoring events, make friends, learn about student clubs and societies, find out what’s on at Monash and much more. To be eligible, you must be a first-year undergraduate student.

What's next?

To get started, complete your Peer Mentoring profile form and we’ll start working on matching you with your mentoring group.

Once you've been matched, you’ll be notified via your student email and your mentors will reach out to you via Moodle.

For IT mentees, once you've completed your Peer Mentoring profile, from Wednesday, 16th July you'll be able to browse and select your own mentoring group that best suits your schedule using Chronus.
