Ross Shafer

Ross is currently First Assistant Secretary, Carers, Autism, Markets and Safeguards at the Commonwealth Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (and the Department of Social Services prior to the transfer of the disability and carers function). In this role he has NDIS policy responsibility for Markets, Workforce, Pricing, Quality and Safeguards, Home and Living, as well as broader Disability sector policy for Carers (including the Carers Strategy), Autism (including the Autism Strategy) and early childhood programs. Prior to this role, Ross’ career has been in public service including at the Departments of Social Services (Budget and Housing), Prime Minister and Cabinet, Defence, and Finance. Ross holds a Ba Economics (Hons) and Ba Commerce.
