Research impact projects

How research impact projects can enhance your research expertise

Hear from our PhD supervisors, students and industry partners as they provide an overview of research impact projects, and how the experience allows students to apply their skills practically with industry partners.

At Monash Business School, we highlight the importance of industry collaboration while discovering new opportunities and solving global issues during the research process.

Research impact projects offer you the opportunity to apply and advance your research expertise by undertaking short-term internship projects with industry partners including enterprises, businesses, and government agencies.

Completion of a research impact project provides practical experience and professional networking opportunities, develops employability skills, and facilitates a greater understanding of career planning, professional development and employer expectations.

PhD students undertaking research impact projects can receive up to $3,000 per month as a stipend (on top of a current scholarship) for the period of the internship.

How to start a research impact project

It's important to start exploring opportunities and planning your research impact project early, ideally in your first year of PhD candidature. Securing an internship within 18 months of candidature is highly recommended. You can obtain evidence of securing an internship with industry, prior to finalising the written agreement via this Letter of Intent. You will need your supervisor and faculty support to undertake a research impact project.

Visit Information for graduate researchers and supervisors for detailed information to guide you in securing your research impact project.
