Pacific Action for Climate Transitions (PACT)

Monash University and Fiji National University (FNU) in May 2022 signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work towards launching a joint climate change research centre focusing on the business and economics implications of climate change.

This is a growing area of academic research that is being sought by policymakers looking to fund mitigation and adaptation research leading to effective policy.

The centre, which is jointly based at the two universities and overseen by Monash Business School, supports collaboration and provides exceptional research into climate change mitigation and adaptation.

It also provides high-quality training and capacity building for policymakers in Pacific island countries.

The Pacific Island Rim is at the forefront of negative climate change and Fiji has been world-leading in drawing attention to this issue and the need for urgent measures on adaptation and mitigation.
