The Department of Accounting at Monash Business School is pleased to coordinate a workshop showcasing research informing the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board’s (AUASB) work program on 12 February 2027.

This workshop is jointly organised by Monash University, the AUASB and the Accounting & Finance Journal. The workshop will be held in a hybrid form to facilitate interstate/international presenters, with in-person attendance in Melbourne preferred.

The AUASB’s work plan overview covers the following priority areas:

  • Sustainability assurance
  • Multiple topics related to financial report and other assurance (examples for each topic area can be found on the AUASB website – see Research):
  • Mandatory sustainability assurance
  • Technology, including AI
  • Audit quality
  • Half-year financial reports
  • Auditor’s report
  • Other assurance matters

The workshop aims to inform the AUASB on matters relevant to their standard-setting responsibilities including current assurance practices and emerging issues. We welcome empirical, theoretical, and conceptual research addressing financial statement audit topics and the rapidly evolving areas of sustainability assurance and use of AI.

The forum will be an invitation-only event
