Please join us for a special evening of celebration, inspiration, and recognition - our annual Monash Business School Dean's Gala Dinner.

We’ll proudly celebrate several distinguished alumni, with six major awards to be presented by our Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics and Head of Monash Business School, Professor Simon Wilkie.They will comprise the Emerging Talent Award, Professional Achievement Award, Impact Award, Community Award, Indigenous Award and Lifetime Achievement Award.

We are also thrilled to welcome distinguished Monash alum Ms Anna Burke AO, as our keynote speaker.

In conversation with Professor Richard Hall, Ms Burke will share the insights gained through her distinguished 15-year career in federal politics, when she led a highly successful campaign to protect people from unwanted telemarketing calls, and served as Speaker of the House of Representatives for two years.

During the evening, we will also highlight our exceptional accomplishments throughout the past year, acknowledging the commitment and excellence that define our community.

As we gather to applaud our achievements, recognise our distinguished alumni and engage in meaningful conversations, the Monash Business School Dean's Gala Dinner promises to be an enriching evening of networking, inspiration, and festivity.

Keynote speaker

Anna Burke AO Ms Anna Burke AO

Anna Burke AO was the elected representative for the Victorian federal electorate of Chisholm in the Australian Parliament from 1998 until 2016, and served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2012 to 2013. Before becoming Speaker, Ms Burke served as Deputy Speaker and on a number of Parliamentary Committees including Climate Change, Environment and the Arts, Petitions, and Privileges.

She saw her role as the local representative as paramount and was well-known throughout her local community, being successfully re-elected six times. Many Australians know Ms Burke not only for her role in the Speaker’s Chair, but for her highly successful campaign to protect people from unwanted telemarketing calls.  In 2005, she moved a Private Member’s Bill in Federal Parliament to create a national ‘Do Not Call’ list, which led to the former Government adopting her policy.

Ms Burke was born in 1966 in Melbourne.  She and her four siblings were raised in Ashwood, part of the electorate Anna represented. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Monash University and a Master of Commerce (Honours) from the University of Melbourne. Before entering Parliament, Ms Bourke was a national industrial officer for the Finance Sector Union, where she represented workers in the banking, finance and insurance industries.

Following her retirement from Parliament, Ms Burke was appointed a Member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal in 2017, and appointed a Member of the Administrative Review Tribunal in 2024. Ms Burke also became actively involved in leading a range of public purpose organisations. She is currently serving on the Boards of RedR Australia and the Institute of Breathing and Sleep (IBAS). Ms Burke was made a Member of the Order of Australia for her distinguished service to the Parliament of Australia, and contributions to the community.

Professor Simon Wilkie, Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics, Head of Monash Business School, Monash University

Professor Wilkie’s career spans a remarkable array of roles that extend beyond the higher education sphere and include appointments as Chief Economic Policy Strategist at Microsoft Corporation and Chief Economist with the US Federal Communications Commission.

In 2019, Prof Wilkie joined Monash Business School from the University of Southern California (USC). His research has particularly focused on game theory, its application to business strategy, economic and regulatory policy design, and the economics of the communications industries.

With an exceptional record for advancing multi-disciplinary collaborative research and leveraging its potential to transform policy and create lasting impact, he is widely published on the subjects of spectrum auctions, game theory and telecommunications regulation in leading scholarly journals.

Professor Richard Hall, Deputy Dean, Leadership and Executive Education, Monash Business School, Monash University

Prof Hall has extensive experience in the design and delivery of leadership development programs for managers, professionals and senior leaders. He has published widely in the areas of management and organisation studies, including leadership, technology, organisational change, transformation and development and the future of work. He has designed, managed and delivered MBA programs at a number of universities and currently teaches Executive Leadership Mindsets in the Global Executive MBA at Monash University. He has deep experience working with major corporations, and organisations in the business, government, community and not-for-profit sectors.

Prof Hall has held previous appointments at the Universities of Queensland, Melbourne and Sydney. He has been visiting professor at the University of Strathclyde, Imperial College London, and Harvard University.
