In this presentation Anita will discuss methods for incorporating equity in economic evaluation, including distributional cost-effectiveness analysis and equity weights and new economic tools being developed to consistently quantify equity in health technology assessments for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Speaker profile

Dr Anita Lal is a health economist and Senior Research Fellow at Deakin University. She holds a Victorian Cancer Agency Early Career Fellowship focused on the equity impacts and cost-effectiveness of targeted programs to increase bowel, breast and cervical cancer screening in under screened groups in Victoria. She has over 8 years of experience undertaking applied economic evaluations of a range of interventions including cancer screening, obesity prevention mental health and smoking cessation. Her research interests are focused on reducing inequities in healthcare and health outcomes and developing methods and tools to incorporate equity in economic evaluations and health technology assessments in Australia.
