Galina Andreeva

Dr Galina Andreeva, Professor of Societal Aspects of Credit, Head of MSBE Group, University of Edinburgh Business School.

Dr Andreeva’s research focuses on credit risk of individuals and small businesses, using advanced statistical and machine-learning techniques applied to Big Data, including novel types of data, such as Open Banking financial transactions, web browsing and textual data. She has more than a decade of experience building credit scoring models, as part of her research or consultancy projects. Areas of specific focus include financial vulnerability and algorithmic fairness.

Dr Andreeva publishes in top academic journals including European Journal of Operational Research, Risk Analysis: An International Journal, Journal of Financial Management, Markets and Institutions, Journal of Financial Stability and Journal of Financial Accountability and Management. She guest edited two special issues on Credit Risk Modelling, and was on organising committees of three major international conferences in Credit Risk.

Dr Andreeva holds positions of Director for the Credit Research Centre (CRC) and Joint Head of the Management Science and Business Economics Group, University of Edinburgh Business School. CRC has been at the forefront of quantitative research on credit risk for more than 20 years, successfully bringing together academics and practitioners.
