Institutional Barriers to Equity: Workshop 2024
This workshop will explore the systemic barriers embedded within institutions—whether social, political, economic, or cultural — that may hinder the achievement of equity and fairness.
Key questions include: Do these institutional barriers perpetuate disparities in access to resources, opportunities, and outcomes? How do they disadvantage individuals or groups based on characteristics such as race, gender, religion, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and other marginalised identities? What strategies can effectively address these barriers?
Evidence using data from laboratory and field experiments, surveys, and administrative records, will be featured.
A panel session with practitioners and industry experts will explore practical strategies for organisations, and identify current gaps in addressing institutional inequities.
