Andrew Humberstone, Vice President & Managing Director, Nissan Oceania

Andrew Humberstone is a strategic leader, senior executive and board member within the global automotive landscape, and one of the foremost opinion leaders in Australia. Having lived in 11 different countries, working across various sectors covering dealer retail, importer, OEM and manufacturing, his work spans both international and regional responsibilities, and encompasses experience across strong multi-cultural markets.

As the current Managing Director of Nissan Oceania - including Nissan Motors Australia  (NMA), Nissan New Zealand (NNZ) and Nissan Casting Australia Plant (NCAP), he demonstrates strategic vision and commitment to global organisational objectives, with a passionate interest in leading change, DE&I, innovation, connectivity, AI and sustainability at a domestic level.

Mr Humberstone is also a Certified Non-Executive via INSEAD and a Board  Member and Treasurer of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) in Australia.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the automotive industry, Mr Humberstone previously headed Nissan’s Independent Markets in Europe after joining Nissan Europe in May 2019.  Mr Humberstone’s career has also spanned successful CEO roles at Elite Automotive Alliances in  Saudi Arabia and FCA Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in the United Kingdom.

He previously headed FCA’s International Operations EMEA region in Turin, Italy.

Mr Humberstone joined the Nissan Oceania operation in March 2024 after leading Nissan Great Britain as Managing Director for the previous four years. During his time at the helm of Nissan GB, he successfully drove the business transformation and growth,  and championed DEI at both a UK and regional level. He oversaw a pivotal shift in network strategy, with significant improvements made in the quality of customer service and representation in the UK.

By the end of 2024, 10 months after Mr Humberstone assumed control of Nissan’s Oceania region,  Nissan Australia’s sales were up 15% YoY, and Nissan was the third-fastest growing brand within the top 10 OEMs in Australia.  

Other key Nissan Oceania achievements under Mr Humberstone’s leadership include:

  • Award of the Australian Made Certification for the aluminium castings and towbars produced at NCAP in Dandenong South in Victoria.
  • Nissan Australia and New Zealand earning 2024 Great Place to Work certification.
  • Successful launch of Nissan MORE aftersales program which includes Australia’s only 10 year/300,00km Warranty when servicing with Nissan.
  • Establishing employee working groups across Nissan Oceania as part of his local strategy.

Professor Alex Christou, Director, Monash Corporate Education and Professor of Practice, Monash Business School

An experienced and entrepreneurial leader with a 20-year career at business schools, Prof Christou has dedicated his career in supporting individuals and organisations to realise their full potential.

In addition to leading the Executive and Corporate Education function at Monash Business School, he is a program director for our corporate custom programs and a trainer and facilitator of our corporate wellbeing and human-centric workplace solutions that drive high performance cultures internationally.

Prof Christou is an active supporter of diversity and inclusion. His efforts include adding his voice to supporting talented women, and underprivileged international students, in obtaining world class education opportunities, by reducing the financial barriers that prevent them from further studies.

He is a board member of the Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has served on the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia – Women in Leadership Committee, and has also served as a committee member for the International University Consortium for Executive Education (UNICON).  He holds a Master in Marketing from Monash University, and is a Certified Practicing Marketer and Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute.
