Monash Business School’s Department of Management is delighted to host this hybrid seminar featuring Emerita Professor Ann Langley. Prof Langley will draw on her experience as Deputy Editor for the Academy of Management Journal (2022-2025), plus related experiences as an author, reviewer and editor of qualitative research, to discuss the key issues involved in shaping qualitative studies for publication.

She will identify three basic requirements for writing and publishing insightful and impactful qualitative research, discuss the diverse challenges that may arise, and consider how they may be successfully overcome.

Emerita Professor Ann Langley

Ann Langley is Emerita Professor at HEC Montréal and Distinguished Research Environment Professor at University of Warwick. Until August 31, 2020, she held the Chair in Strategic Management in Pluralistic Settings at HEC Montréal, Canada, where she also completed her PhD in 1987 following undergraduate and Master’s training in the United Kingdom. She also spent several years working in the private and public sectors as an analyst and consultant.

She is the author of sixteen books and more than one hundred articles. Her research deals with strategic processes and practices in complex organisations, with a particular emphasis on organisational change, decision making, leadership and innovation.

Prof Langley was Deputy Editor of the Academy of Management Journal for qualitative research from 2022-2025, and co-editor of Strategic Organization from 2009 to 2022. She is also coeditor with Haridimos Tsoukas of the book series Perspectives on Process Organization Studies, published by Oxford University Press.
