Monash Business School Management professor awarded teaching honour

Professor Herman Tse, from our Department of Management, has been awarded the 2025 Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM) Innovative Management Educator of the Year Award - a prestigious accolade recognising excellence and innovation in management education and the dissemination of high-quality teaching practices.
The award recognises outstanding contributions across three key domains: innovative pedagogy, effective facilitation of learning, and the integration of research with teaching.

In their remarks, the ANZAM Award Selection Panel commended Prof Tse’s distinctive approach to leadership education. “Herman demonstrates genuine care and innovation in how he partners with students in their learning.
His practice is thoughtful, research-informed, and clearly impactful, creating a unique and meaningful environment for leadership learning and practices…the overall submission clearly positions him as a worthy recipient of the award”.
Reflecting on the recognition, Professor Tse said he was “deeply grateful to ANZAM for this honour and for recognising the value of teaching excellence and innovation”.
“This acknowledgement motivates me to continue advancing management education and developing high-quality teaching practices that support the ongoing professional development of educators, PhD students, and practitioners,” Prof Tse said.
Head of the Department of Management, Professor David Oliver, said the award reinforced the department’s longstanding reputation for teaching excellence and innovation.
“Herman’s achievement exemplifies our department’s dedication to providing education that is high-quality, evidence-informed, and grounded in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Principles for Responsible Management Education, empowering our students to make a positive impact in their future careers,” Prof Oliver said.
“This recognition continues our proud tradition of staff being acknowledged by prestigious professional bodies both in Australia and internationally,” he said.
