Monash Business School tops research rankings

Monash Business School’s research in the area of Business Administration has leapt into the top 10 in the world, along with improvements in Economics, Finance and Management, according to the latest Shanghai Ranking Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
The School’s business administration research is now ranked number 7 in the world, up from 25, according to the prestigious 2023 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) table, released by the ShanghaiRanking.
In Finance, Monash Business School’s ranking rose from 44 to 25, becoming Australia's top ranked institution in this area.
In Economics, it continues to be Australia's leading institution and improved its ranking from 41 to 36. Management also jumped a bracket from 76-100 to be ranked 51-75.
The rankings use academic indicators and third-party data to measure performance in research output, research influence, international collaboration, research quality, and international academic awards.
"The results for Business Administration, Economics and Finance are outstanding,” said Deputy Dean Research Professor Russell Smyth.
“One fifth of the weighting in the ARWU criteria is based on publications in high-quality outlets in these disciplines.
“Our continued improvement in the ARWU rankings is testament to the continuous improvement we have made in increasing the proportion of articles published in the top journals in our disciplines."
Strong results from Monash Business School have contributed to the University’s strong performance, with 13 subjects placed in the top 50 and overall 34 subjects are in the top 100 globally.
