Bright minds, bold ideas: Monash Business School to host global challenge
15 October 2025

Monash is hosting 64 top business students from 16 global universities.
Some of the brightest undergraduate business minds from across the globe are heading to Melbourne for six action-packed days of intensive business challenges.
The Australian Undergraduate Business Case Competition (AUBCC), an annual event hosted this year by Monash Business School, will see teams tackle real-world problems, develop innovative and practical solutions under tight deadlines, and present strategies to a panel of industry judges.
Running from October 19–24 at Monash College’s City Campus in Docklands, the annual international competition will give 64 students from 16 global universities, including Monash University, the chance to apply business theory in practice, build valuable global networks, and showcase their consulting skills.
Delegates from Thailand, Canada, Hungary, Hong Kong, Singapore, as well as from the United States - Berkeley California, Southern California, and Florida – will compete throughout the week.
Each team’s work is judged on creativity, feasibility, analytical rigour, and presentation quality.
Since its inception in 2014, the AUBCC has positioned Australia as a hub for global business education and innovation.
Monash University’s AUBCC team claimed third place last year.
Associate Dean of Programs, Professor Ralph Kober, said hosting this year’s event provided Monash Business School with a unique opportunity to strengthen its international reputation and deepen its engagement with industry.

The AUBCC fosters cross-cultural collaboration and global connections.
Previous hosts include the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and the University of New South Wales (UNSW), who both have competing teams this year.
UNSW is also Monash Business School's official competition partner in 2025, having founded the AUBCC in 2014, and then hosting several iterations, including last year's competition.
“AUBCC is one of the world’s premier undergraduate business case competitions, attracting teams from top universities such as the National University of Singapore, the University of Hong Kong, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Melbourne, the University of Toronto, and many others,” Professor Kober said.
“Hosting AUBCC highlights how Monash Business School sits firmly among these top institutions, strengthening our international reputation.”
Beyond the competition itself, the AUBCC fosters cross-cultural collaboration and global connections.
“Given the strong involvement of industry through sponsorship, being the focus of the business cases students are solving, and being involved in judging presentations, AUBCC is also enhancing our corporate partnerships and real-world engagement,” he said.
The competition also provides an invaluable learning experience for participants.
“Participating in international case competitions greatly enhances students’ professional skills, such as solving complex problems in a tight timeframe, coping in high-pressure environments, and improving presentation and teamwork skills,” Prof Kober said.
“The competition also allows students to develop connections with their peers from leading universities and to network and showcase their ability to industry professionals.”
The 2025 competition is supported by CIMA, New Aim, Unisuper and AACA Global.
The winner of this year’s competition will qualify for the Champions Trophy Case Competition, featuring the strongest case competition universities from around the world, and hosted by the University of Auckland.
