Michelle Clarke

Michelle brings more than three decades of leadership experience across Australia’s leading universities, with a career distinguished by strategic foresight, operational excellence, and a sustained commitment to organisational development. She has led major portfolios spanning education, research and engagement, governance and compliance, institutional planning, student services, and large-scale workforce and service transformations.

Recognised for her integrity, judgement, and ability to drive positive change, Michelle has shaped institution-wide initiatives in load planning, accreditation, crisis response, and professional services realignment. Her leadership is marked by an emphasis on data-informed decision-making, continuous improvement, and the creation of high-performing, values-driven teams.

In her current role as Faculty General Manager for the Faculty of Business and Economics at Monash University, Michelle leads more than 160 professional staff and advises senior executives on strategy, resource allocation, regulatory compliance, and institutional planning. Her prior leadership roles at Deakin University, the University of Sydney, and multiple faculties within Monash demonstrate her broad sector expertise—from international admissions and academic governance to curriculum administration and strategic reform.

Complementing her Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Monash, Michelle has completed executive programs at Oxford Saïd Business School, the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and Monash University. She is an experienced mentor, trusted adviser, and respected contributor to university-wide committees, steering groups and governance bodies.
