Professor Nicholas McGuigan
Director of Equity, Diversity and Social Inclusion

Nick is a Professor of Accounting and Director of Equity, Diversity and Social Inclusion at Monash Business School.
Nick joined Monash in 2016, having held previous leadership roles in accounting departments including Deputy Head of Department, Strategy & Innovation (Macquarie University) and Director of Education (Monash). He plays an active role in accounting associations serving on boards and committees of the American Accounting Association (AAA), European Accounting Association (EAA) and the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ).
He maintains a close association with professional accounting bodies, regularly working with global bodies to host events, contribute to panel discussions and create up-to-date, engaging member content.
Nick is an award-winning educator who works as an innovator, instigator and disruptor to create future-oriented business education programs that focus on innovation, creativity and design thinking. Nick holds an Australian National Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning. His commitment to innovation is further recognised in the awarding of a Business/Higher Education Roundtable (B/HERT) award ‘Excellence in Accounting Teaching Collaboration’ and is the recipient of the prestigious 2019 Aspen Institute Global ‘Ideas Worth Teaching’ Award.
He researches in the areas of integrated reporting, integrated thinking, diversity and social justice, learning technologies, design, systems networks and regenerative accounting, where he is a sought-after international speaker and publishes widely in top journals across the field.
