Dr Megan Clark AC

Dr Clark joined the Council of the University in 2015 and began her tenure as Deputy Chancellor in 2021 and was appointed Chancellor in 2024. Her current leadership credentials include, member of the Global Advisory Council of Bank of America Corporation, USA, and Chair of not-for-profit MITRE Australia.

An influential contributor to the science and technology sector in Australia, Dr Clark chaired the Review of Australia’s Space Industry Capability in March 2018 and served as the inaugural Head of the Australian Space Agency from 2018 to 2020 before she became Chair of the Agency’s advisory board until December 2023. She was the Chief Executive of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) from 2009 to 2014, and previously held the positions of Vice-President of Technology at BHP and non-executive director of Rio Tinto and CSL Limited.

In recognition of her professional career Dr Clark was awarded a Companion of the Order of Australia for eminent service to scientific research and development in 2014 and the prestigious Australian Academy of Science Medal in 2019. She is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering (ATSE), the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) and the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). Dr Clark holds a bachelor’s degree with first class honours from the University of Western Australia and a PhD in Economic Geology from Queen’s University, Canada.

Dr Clark volunteers as an active NSW Surf Lifesaving Patrol Member in the summer at Pambula Beach.
