Celebrating 60 years
In 2024 Monash Law celebrates 60 years of creating legal innovators, doing impactful research and increasing access to justice.
Monash Law is celebrating our 60th anniversary in 2024. It has been six decades since our first group of students embarked on their journey to become the legal innovators of the future.
In 1964, the Monash Law Bachelor of Laws (LLB) course was yet to be recognised by the Board of Examiners, or the Council of Legal Education. So our pioneer class were not only brave, but ready to challenge the status quo of legal studies in Australia.
Today Monash Law is the biggest law school in Australia by on-campus student numbers. We were the first law school in Australia to offer students a Clinical Guarantee. We are the largest Victorian provider of access to justice through supervised student clinics, for the most vulnerable, marginalised and financially stressed members of our community, who cannot afford a lawyer and do not qualify for limited publicly funded legal aid.
Throughout 2024, we’ll be celebrating 60 years of providing legal education that improves access to justice for individuals across Australia and around the world.
In this anniversary year we’re excited to be able to share the achievements of our alumni, the impact of our research and our vision for the future of legal education.

- provide scholarships that improve access to education for students experiencing disadvantage
