Graduate Research study spaces
Faculty HDR spaces
Located on the third floor of the Law building on Clayton Campus (room 321) is a shared space for law graduate research students and teaching associates. This room features hotdesks with desktop computers and a communal space that is available for students. Access is via swipe card access with an M-Pass.
In addition, there is an academic office that is available to book on an individual basis. Booking requests should be emailed to law-operations@monash.edu.
Law Library
The Law Library is located in the Law Building,15 Ancora Imparo Way on Clayton campus.
Law Library carrels
Individual lockable carrels located in the Law Library are provided for some graduate research students. The carrels are allocated in priority order as follows:
- full-time PhD and M.Phil international students
- full-time PhD local students
- full-time M.Phil local students
- other full-time HDR local students
This accommodation is arranged through the Faculty Research Services Group Manager. The carrels have storage space for books and personal items. There are some carrels available for HDR students who occasionally come to the Faculty to see their supervisors or other purposes. Please contact the Faculty Research Services Group Manager to book this facility in advance.
External students will be allocated a carrel for sole use during their visit to the Faculty. They are required to advise the Faculty Research Services Group Manager in advance so that arrangements can be made prior to their arrival at the Faculty.
Graduate research students, who do not occupy a work station for sole use within the Faculty, can use any computer which is available in the Law Library.

Study spaces at Clayton campus
Monash Graduate study spaces
The Monash Graduate Research Office (MGRO) provides two study areas for graduate research students to suit different study preferences. The areas include a small kitchenette, and provide a mix of quiet and collaborative study spaces.
Clayton campus study spaces
Monash has multiple library locations that provide a choice of study spaces to suit different work preferences, including booking discussion rooms in the Law, Matheson, Caulfield or Peninsula libraries.
Monash Graduate Association (MGA) Graduate Lounge
The MGA Lounge is located on level 1, Campus Centre, 21 Chancellors Walk, Clayton. It consists of three meeting rooms, a lounge area, kitchenette, laptop recharging, lockers and a piano.
Monash University Law Chambers (MULC)
The Monash Law City Campus is situated in the heart of Melbourne's legal precinct. Located at 555 Lonsdale Street, the city campus sits near the bustling intersection of Lonsdale and William Streets, home to the Supreme Court of Victoria, County Court of Victoria and Melbourne Magistrates' Court.
There are hotdesk facilities available in the academic staff area (level one) at Monash University Law Chambers (MULC), 1/555 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne for HDR students. Please email law-operations@monash.edu for further information and to confirm security access has been established.
There is also access to The Library Node, which is a room containing a small collection of textbooks from the Monash University Library. Books are available for a three hour loan or can be ordered and collected from the main library facilities at Clayton campus.
