About us

The Commercial Disputes Group was established in 2020 to showcase and facilitate Monash Law’s commercial dispute resolution research expertise.

This term is used in a broad sense, to refer to litigation, court annexed processes in the nature of references to special referees, commercial arbitration, expert determination and ADR non-determinative processes, such as mediation and conciliation. This extends to both international and domestic, Australian, disputes.

As a locus for research in the commercial disputes field, we draw together research communities, governments and industry to design and promote more effective commercial dispute resolution through a commercial lens.

As a leading group of eight university within a major commercial centre such as Melbourne, Monash Law has a significant opportunity to contribute teaching for students and practitioners and high level research in each of these areas.

Monash University Law Chambers also provides the ideal location for student, professional and broader engagement with highly experienced and expert commercial lawyers: including judges, commercial arbitrators, senior barristers (QCs/SCs), mediators and academics.

We look forward to connecting with legal professionals, academics, researchers, university students and professionals seeking executive education.
