Thesis title
The Impact of Legal Costs Reform in Personal Injury Claims
Why is your research important?
This thesis investigates the impacts of legal costs reforms in personal injury claims and associated civil litigation. It focuses in particular on the relationship between costs and claimants’ experiences of legal services and processes, by seeking to:
*Explore the claims that are made in reform discourse about the likely impact of reform of legal costs of legal services for personal injury claimants.
*Identify the assumptions in legal costs regulation about how claimants behave and what claimants understand about costs for legal services.
*Evaluate the existing evidence of the impact of legal costs rules on claimants.
*Empirically investigate the costs of legal services in personal injury claims.
The thesis seeks to provide the first comprehensive analysis of the impact of legal costs and associated reform on personal injury claimants.
