Optimising the delivery of digital health information in culturally and linguistically diverse pregnant women

Investigators

Dr Cheryce Harrison and Rebecca Madill (PhD Candidate)

What’s the research about?

  • We want to learn more about how women from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) populations find and use health information about pregnancy on the internet.
  • We would also like to understand what makes it easy or difficult when trying to find health information and how much you feel you can trust health information when you do find it.
  • We aim to use this information to design digital health information for women during pregnancy.

We are seeking women:

  • Currently pregnant with one baby OR have given birth within the last 12 months
  • 18 - 44 years old
  • Born in:
    • Southern Asia (e.g. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka)
    • Chinese Asia (e.g. China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea, Taiwan)
    • South-East Asia (e.g. Brunei, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam)

What’s involved?

We are inviting women to participate in one short interview of up to 1-hour duration. The interview can take place in person, over the phone or via video conference (i.e. Zoom) depending on your preference and will be held at a mutually convenient time.

The interview you participate in will be audio recorded if in person, and video recorded if online. We will record the interview to ensure all of the information you provide during the interview is understood and remembered. Only the research team will have access to information you provide. Your identity and responses will remain completely confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside of the research team.

Do I have to participate?

Participation in any research project is voluntary. If you do not wish to take part, you do not have to. If you decide to take part and later change your mind, you are free to withdraw from the project at any stage.
