The program is delivered online and combines foundational qualitative research content with practical application to implementation research and projects.

Day 1: Foundations
  • Purpose, principles and possibilities of qualitative research design
  • Qualitative methodologies and methods, including philosophical underpinnings and practical applications
  • Formulating qualitative research questions for different purposes and contexts
  • Overview of qualitative analysis methods, including template and framework analysis
  • Use of frameworks in qualitative research, with emphasis on implementation frameworks
Day 2: Applied implementation methods
  • Applying implementation frameworks and models to qualitative design, methods and analysis
  • Comparing types of qualitative analysis used in implementation projects
  • Developing a research plan aligned with implementation frameworks, qualitative methods and analysis
  • Preparing and writing up implementation and qualitative studies for publication
  • Quality checks for reporting qualitative research
Assessment and recognition

Access to an online self-paced module is provided one week before the workshop. Completion of the pre- and post-workshop self-check, available through the online module, is required to receive a course completion certificate.

The program is facilitated by experts in qualitative and implementation research.

Facilitators bring expertise in qualitative study design, data collection, analysis, implementation frameworks and the application of qualitative methods in healthcare improvement projects.

The practical and interactive format uses published studies to demonstrate good practice in qualitative data collection, analysis and reporting.

Enrolment into this course is subject to Terms and Conditions.
