Keys and locks

Your studio apartment cannot be locked from the outside without the use of your key. This is to ensure you can’t lock your keys inside. Remember to always lock your door when you leave your room. You can lock your door from the inside of your studio to ensure your safety and security. The lock will open when you pull the door handle.


Power to your studio

For power in your studio apartment, please place your key into the master lock. You will find this lock on the inside wall as you enter your studio.


Fan

You have a ceiling fan to circulate the air and help keep the room cooler in summer. The switch for the fan is as shown here.


Heaters

You have a hydronic heater which will operate only when the outside temperature is below 21°C. Turn the dial on the side of the heater to control temperature when in operation.


Microwave

When using your microwave, please refer to your user-guide located in the large drawer under your microwave. If you require another user-guide please speak with staff at the Administration Office. If your microwave has no power, please check the cupboard under your sink and make sure the microwave is plugged in and switched on.


Clothes line

CAMPBELL, HOLMAN, LOGAN & TURNER HALLS

When using the clothes line in your studio, you will need to pull the cord across to the opposite wall and connect it to the existing hook insert. If you find it gets stuck, twist the silver brace and it will release the cord

BRIGGS & JACKOMOS HALLS

When using the clothes line in your studio you will need to pull the cord across to the opposite wall and connect it to the existing hook. Wrap the cord to the plastic tab under the storage unit If you would like two lines wrap the cord around the opposite hook and continue back to the unit connecting the line to the hook placed underneath the unit


Windows

This picture shows the locking mechanism of the windows in Briggs & Jackomos Halls. Pushing the latch to the up position unlocks your window so you can open it using the window winder. Pushing the latch to the down position locks your windows.
