MUKSRH supports High School Student Work Experience Programme

Between June 22 and 26 2026, MUKSRH hosted one high school student from Mount Waverley Secondary College, Minjune Chung. As a bilingual Korean-Australian student, Minjune helped create Korean language teaching materials for use amongst Korean language students in elementary units. MUKSRH would like to thank Minjune for his hard work and efforts over the week and wish him the very best in the future.

MUKSRH Remembers Korean War Veterans

On 22 June 2026, Associate Professor Andy Jackson attended the 2026 Korean War Veterans Day celebration at the Melbourne Korean War Memorial in Maribyrnong, Victoria. Dr Jackson laid a wreath on behalf of Monash Korean Studies and MUKSRH dedicated to the memory of those service personnel who laid down their lives in the defence of the Republic of Korea 1950-1953. The Korean Veterans Association of Australia and the Republic of Korea Consulate in Melbourne organised the evening event at the Australian Club. It was well attended by 20 surviving veterans of the conflict and their relatives.

Meet and Greet with the Korean Police National Agency

On 3 September 2026, Monash Korean Studies was honoured to host a Meet and Greet session with 10 delegates from the Korean Police National Agency (KPNA). The session provided our Korean Studies students with a valuable opportunity to engage directly with the police officers and learn more about law enforcement in Korea.Students had the opportunity to ask questions about the work and experiences of Korean police officers, law enforcement practices, safety issues, and aspects of Korean culture.

The session fostered an engaging and informative exchange between the delegates and students, allowing students to gain a deeper understanding of the Korean police system and Korean society. As a special memento of the visit, students were also gifted a small badge from the KPNA.

The session was organised by Hyein Cho and Sandy Nguyen from the Monash Korean Studies Research Hub.
