National and international engagement
Stewart King and Barbara Pezzotti are associate members of the International Crime Fiction Research Group (Queen’s University Belfast).
Barbara Pezzotti is an associated member of the Crime Studies Research Grup (UK), and the Popular Culture Association of Australia and New Zealand (POPCAANZ) and member of the Sisters in Crime Association – Australia.
Stewart King is a member of the editorial board of Clues: A Journal of Detection, the leading academic journal dedicated to crime fiction scholarship in the world.
Stewart King is part of an ongoing research project on crime fiction and world literature with colleagues at Harvard, Columbia, New York, Stockholm, Barcelona, Queen’s (Belfast) and Newcastle (Australia) universities. He is a member of the University of Newcastle’s Detective Fiction on the Move Research Network.
Barbara Pezzotti is part of an ongoing research project on the representation of disability in international crime fiction with colleagues at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
Stewart King writes occasional articles for The Conversation on international crime fiction, has discussed crime fiction on ABC’s Radio National and has interviewed visiting international crime writers at writers’ festivals and elsewhere.
Barbara Pezzotti has organised the visit of the Italian crime writer Giancarlo De Cataldo to Australia and New Zealand. The visit included a round table on historical crime fiction at the Royal Society of New Zealand, Wellington and an event at Unity Books, Wellington, NZ.
