Safety at PAC

Please complete the following Facility Induction to familiarise yourself with the Performing Arts Centre - General Facility Induction.

What if I see an accident or emergency?

Please ask or call for help and follow the instructions given to you by staff and wardens. Unless you have been instructed to evacuate, please remain where you are. If you need to call PAC staff or security, phones are located in most offices and the main ground floor foyer.

Life-threatening emergencies

  1. Get help from nearby staff or students
  2. Call 000 (Ambulance/Fire/Police)
  3. Call Security: 333 (from an internal phone) or 9905 3059 (from mobile)
  4. Notify a member of staff or the technical team: 9905 1695
  5. Complete an Incident Report

Non life-threatening emergencies

  1. Get help from nearby staff or students
  2. Notify a member of staff, a first-aider or the technical team: 9905 1695
  3. Call Security: 333 (from an internal phone) or 9905 3059 (from mobile)
  4. Complete an Incident Report

What if something is unsafe?

We try really hard to keep everybody safe. To do this, we rely on everyone to report hazards and incidents so that we can respond appropriately. If you have seen something unsafe, witnessed an accident or some other incident, please report it here: Report an Incident/Hazard.

We have a number of Safe Working Instructions (SWI) in place outlining procedures for the safe operation of equipment.

Unlike many other teaching and learning spaces, PAC has some equipment and facilities that pose additional risks to it's users. If you are booking a space or putting on a performance at PAC, you must be familiar with the following risk assessments:

You can find these assessments on the Safety and Risk Analysis Hub (SARAH+). It is easiest to filter by risk number.

If you are performing activities outside of those described in the above risk assessments, you will need to complete your own risk assessment to cover these additional activities. We can help you through this process, please contact the PAC resources team for assistance: arts-pac-resources-team-l@monash.edu.

If you are unsure of an activity do not do it! Please ask a staff member or member of the Technical team for assistance and guidance.
