Monash University is part of the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program. The CFA Institute is the global association for investment professionals that awards the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
The affiliated programs include the following Monash Business School programs:
The affiliation means the Bachelor programs cover a minimum of 70 percent of the Level 1 topics, while the postgraduate program (i.e. Master of Advanced Finance (MAF)) covers a minimum of 70 percent of all three topic levels, of the CFA Program Candidate Body of KnowledgeTM including a continued commitment to covering CFA Institute ethical and professional standards.
Recognition as part of the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program signals to potential students, employers and the marketplace that the business school's curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well suited to preparing students for employment in the finance and investment industry, and for attempting the CFA exams.
Monash Business School and the Department of Banking and Finance do not administer the CFA Program. Students wishing to consider the CFA Program must meet the entrance requirements as outlined by the CFA Institute. Students should note that CFA Program does not provide credit for, or to, your Monash course(s).
As a CFAI Affiliated University, the Department of Banking and Finance of the Monash Business School is able to offer scholarships to current students. If you are a current student of the Department and are interested in pursuing the CFA Exams, you may be eligible to apply for a CFA Institute Student Scholarship.
Under each scholarship for the Exam offering, the CFA Program enrolment fee (if applicable) is waived and the registration fee is discounted (which includes access to the curriculum eBook) to US$350. Scholarship candidates are responsible for any additional costs related to selecting/purchasing the curriculum.

To be eligible, you must be in the final year of your Bachelor degree (for CFA Level I Exam), completing a major in finance. For Master degrees - MAF and MBF - (for all three levels of exams), you can apply in any year during your degree, but you will need at least one semester of results of your Master degree at Monash. Note that you cannot apply after you have completed the degree.
Students are required to have a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 82% as determined by the Business School.
Please note that the minimum WAM of 82% is only a minimum requirement - it does not mean that if your WAM is higher than 82%, you will automatically be successful. The CFA scholarships application, similarly to those of other scholarships, is a highly competitive process.
