This event is a tribute to Peter Chandler, Emeritus Professor in marketing at Monash Business School.

Professor Chandler’s vision, to create a marketing qualification and establish marketing as a key driver of business prosperity, has led to more than 22,000 students graduating with a marketing qualification from Monash University since the first intake in 1971.

Prof Chandler was instrumental in shaping the careers of many successful graduates including Monash Marketing alumni Peter Fox AM, Executive Chairman of Linfox Pty Ltd, and Penny Fowler, Chairman of the Herald & Weekly Times, News Corp Australia.

The Inaugural Peter Chandler Oration will be delivered by Janette Kendall, Monash Marketing alumna and non-executive director at organisations including Vicinity Centres, Tabcorp and Visit Victoria.

Janette Kendall, Non-Executive Director, Vicinity Centres, Tabcorp, Costa Group

Janette Kendall is a company director with more than 25 years of board experience across public, private and not-for-profit organisations spanning a diverse range of industries. She currently sits on the boards of Vicinity Centres, Tabcorp, Visit Victoria, Costa Group and KM Property Funds. She is also a former non-executive director of Nine Entertainment, Wellcom Worldwide, AURL (Foodworks), Monash Digital, The Melbourne Theatre Company, and the Melbourne International Festival of the Arts.

Ms Kendall is a seasoned marketing, digital and operations executive with more than 30 years of experience developing and implementing business and brand strategies across multiple sectors including FMCG, retail, media, hospitality, property, gaming and manufacturing.

She has a Bachelor of Business, Marketing and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a member of Chief Executive Women, an advisor to Youth Activating Youth and a mentor at MentorWalk.

Laura Mattiazzi, Marketing Industry Advisory Board member

Laura Mattiazzi is an experienced banking and finance specialist with more than 20 years experience working for leading banks in Australia and Asia, across the property, import and export, wholesale, manufacturing, services, food, and agribusiness sectors.

As Westpac’s regional general manager for agribusiness since 2018, Ms Mattiazzi has led the Australia-China Agribusiness Summit in July 2021 and is now leading planning for the Australia-China Food and Agribusiness Climate Change Summit in May 2022.

A graduate of  the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Laura is a director at the national board of Australia China Business Council (ACBC), and chairs its Food and Agribusiness Committee. She has also been an advisory board member of the Department of Marketing at Monash University since 2017.
