Double global honours for Monash Business School

Monash Business School has capped off an impressive fortnight on the international stage, with a stand-out performance in the 2026 Positive Impact Rating (PIR) and multiple awards announced at this year’s PRME Education Awards.
The business school achieved Level 4 Transforming School status in the 2026 PIR on 22 June - an assessment done by students and faculty of how effectively institutions create positive impact through teaching, governance and culture.
Deputy Dean Accreditation and International, Professor Carla Wilkin, said the recognition reflected the business school’s commitment to sustainability, ethics, impact and responsible leadership.
“Achieving Level 4 Transforming School status shows we are not simply talking about these values, but making meaningful progress towards putting them into practice,” Prof Wilkin said.
“Importantly, the Positive Impact Rating is driven by student voice. It reflects our students’ lived experience of the school and how well we are preparing them to become responsible leaders.”

PRME student representatives Riley Kleinschmidt, Lara Oana, Venudi Widanagama, Amber Wong and Nailah Zaman led the student data collection process for this year’s PIR. They ensured that some 457 of their peers across three campuses completed the survey - more than four times the number required to qualify.
“From encouraging our peers to participate, to striving to embody PIR values in our own actions, we are proud of what we collectively achieved,” they said.
“The results have inspired us to keep doing our part as we continue on this positive trajectory.”
The PIR success comes as the school celebrates a strong showing at this year’s United Nations-backed PRME Education Awards, held in Cairo from 28 June to 1 July.
Dr Laura Visser, Dr Darren Thomas Baker and the MUMA team received an honourable mention in the Pedagogy category for their work preparing business students for the future through art.
Dr Andrea Fenton was runner-up in the Academic Development category for her work on the Oral Assessment Community of Practice.
Monash Business School’s Beta Alpha Psi student society was also named the Australia and New Zealand regional winner for the second consecutive year.
Professor Wilkin said the PRME Education Awards were widely regarded as one of the highest international honours in responsible management education.
“This recognition confirms that we are an international leader in responsible management education, recognised for our innovative and impactful contributions to sustainability, ethical leadership, and advancement of the UN SDGs,” she said.
“Together, these achievements reinforce our commitment to educating future leaders who will create positive impact for business, society and the planet.”
