What's a custom account?

A custom account provides a central point of contact for a faculty, department or team within the University.

• Only Monash staff can request a custom account.
• Each type of custom account serves a specific purpose.

• Valid for three years, but can be renewed if necessary.

You can request a custom account using our online form. The UAM team will assess your request and consult with you to find the best solution.

Business rules

• Accounts may not be used for students, external parties (e.g. guests, visitors and vendors) or any position (e.g. Dean of Medicine), nor to access the S:Drive.
• Accounts are not able to access SAP, Callista or TRIM, nor to use CMS/Uniweb (Squiz) and myServices/Remedy.
• Up to two owners (primary and secondary) are allowed.
• Accounts must have an expiry date, set when created. If the owner has left the University, the owner’s manager will need to request deletion of the account, or transfer of its ownership if the account is still needed.
• The email address of the custom account should follow this format: orgunit-servicename@monash.edu. If you need an alternative email address, submit a business case to the UAM team.
• Accounts that need to be modified or deleted must be submitted to myServices by the account owner.
• Passwords aren’t given to anyone other than the account owner. But, under special circumstances, they can be given to the account owner’s manager/supervisor.
• The UAM team may question the purpose of the existing custom account.
• If the Monash user policy or UAM business rules are breached, UAM has the right to block the account and offer you an alternative solution.
• Users shouldn’t share usernames or passwords. If the user believes that passwords have been compromised, they should immediately notify the Service Desk on ext 51777.
