Set your smartphone's date and time
Without the correct date and time, your phone's alarms and reminders won't work properly, and you may miss important events. This guide will show you how to set the date and time on both iPhones and Samsung smartphones.
Set your iPhone to update automatically
- Go to Settings > Privacy & security and turn Location Services on.
- Navigate back to Settings > General > Date & Time and toggle Set Automatically to on.
If it's already on, switch it off for 15 seconds and then back on to refresh.
Manually set your iPhone's date and time
- Open Settings > General > Date & Time.
- Turn off Set automatically (this function may be locked on phones owned by Monash).
- Tap the correct date on the calendar to set the date.
- Tap the time below the calendar, then use the sliders to set the time.

Set your Samsung phone to update automatically
- Open Settings > General Management > Date and Time.
- Toggle on Automatic date and time. As long as your phone is connected to a mobile network, the date and time will be set automatically, based on the network's settings.
Manually set your Samsung phone's date and time
- Open Settings > General Management > Date and Time.
- Toggle off Automatic date and time.
- Tap Set date, then tap correct date on the calendar, and tap Done.
- Tap Set time, then set the correct time on the clock, and tap Done to finish.
