Get to know the library

Searching for your key to success for university and beyond? Look to the the Monash Library for expertly designed programs, resources and services that help you develop your information research skills. These skills will boost your academic performance and help you progress through your studies. Check out the library's search page.

The library offers all sorts of programs and drop-in sessions with librarians as well as plenty of online resources about referencing and research.

You can use your M-Pass (student ID card) for borrowing books and other items from any of our Victorian campus branches, as well as printing, photocopying and scanning services.

When you visit a branch, bring along your own laptop or search for an available library computer.

Workshops and classes

During the semester, we offer all sorts of workshops online and at our campus libraries. Topics include:

  • citing and referencing
  • Endnote
  • search strategies for particular databases or subject specialties
  • finding and evaluating information.

You can register for one of our upcoming workshops on the library class booking system.

Meet with a librarian

Meet with a librarian for a one-on-one 15-minute session for research and assignment support.

Librarians can help with:

  • how and where to start researching a topic
  • finding and evaluating information
  • accessing and using library collections, databases and the internet
  • researching for assessments and projects
  • citing and referencing: identifying sources and using referencing styles.

Online resources

To succeed at uni, you'll develop the right skills and strategies for study and research. Our wide range of online resources are designed to help you develop your information literacy skills.

You’ll find the library’s online resources on the website - they include:

  • Library search – for electronic books, journals, articles, databases and more.
  • Subject guides – use these as a starting point for researching your subject area.
  • Reading lists – you can search for your unit reading lists by unit code or name. Set by your lecturers, these lists essential reading for each class.
  • Databases – access information tailored to your course area or research topic. You can browse databases by subject or title.
